How are words counted?
Words are defined as sequences of non-whitespace characters separated by spaces or newlines. Hyphenated words count as one word.
How is reading time estimated?
Reading time is based on an average reading speed of 238 words per minute, a commonly cited figure for adult silent reading of general text.
Does it count characters with or without spaces?
Both - the tool shows character count with spaces and without spaces as separate figures.
Is my text sent to a server?
All counting happens locally in your browser. No text is transmitted or stored.
